Recipe For a Perfect Weekend in Kerry.
Andrew and I recently celebrated a mini milestone, we are together a year!
In need of a little getaway to celebrate we decided to make a trip to Kerry for the weekend. We wanted something lovely, but also healthy and relaxing.
I had heard about the Europe hotel but had never been and was really looking forward to staying there. I had a feeling it would live up to expectation and I was spot on. After a 3 hour drive we arrived. It's a modern building that greets you with one of the most breathtaking overlooking a lake and very Paul Henry-esque landscape views upon arrival.
By the time we were unpacked and settled in we were starving and really looking forward to dinner. As It was an anniversary I dressed up. I have had this Red Valentino dress for over 2 years. It was a sale find in Brown Thomas that I'm so glad I picked up. I had had a blowdry in Peter Mark two days before that was thankfully holding up well so I just pinned the front sides of my hair back and kept my make up natural.
The hotel has two restaurants, one is more formal but we ate in the brasserie both nights. The design is slick and quite modern. It was bustling and busy on both nights when we were there.
The menu is quite classic but beautifully fresh. The treacle bread is absolutely amazing. I try to avoid bread but this is completely irresistible and when you've on holidays you kind of should spoil yourself a little I think!
I had the catch of the day which was haddock. It was beautiful.
Andrew had a chicken burger.
Extremely clean plates were handed back at the end!
For dessert we opted to have it in the lobby. It's a particularly beautiful space looking out over the garden which is lit up at night.
We both had a gluten free brownie which is the most popular thing on the menu and I know just why.
Afterwards we went to the library which is like something out of a Ralph Lauren Catalogue. There are boardgames and chess and on a perfect winter afternoon it would be heaven to cuddle up here.
For gym lovers out there they will be delighted with how good the gym is. Andrew religiously goes to the gym 5 times a week and was impressed with it which is definitely saying something!
He worked out one of the days but I focused more on the relaxing element and enjoyed the pool and relaxation areas :-)
No blog post would be complete without mentioning just how world class the spa is at the Europe. It's stunningly designed, meticulously clean, and has everything you could think of included, even a GHD in the changing room as I was pleased to note. The products are Espa which I personally rate so highly because they blend luxury and nature so well. As an aromatherapy based line even smelling them has a relaxation effect.
The pool and spa area is beyond stunning and so, so impressive. An amazing feature is that the pools go outside. It's a weird but amazing feeling sitting outside in a pool of warm water breathing in the fresh Kerry air. It's so refreshing also.
Leaving two days after arrival we felt like different people. Refreshed, pampered and content. It's amazing how quickly you can rejuvenate. We will definitely be back again, hopefully sooner than later.
