Fashion Independents Day Roundup
When Brendan Courtney rang me from Frockadvisor HQ to ask if I would partake in Fashion Independents day it was an easy and immediate yes!
Fashion Independent's day is in it's third year. The premise of it is that in order to highlight and bring attention to independent boutiques nationwide a group of influencers, myself included, were given the challenge of going to as many shops as possible within an afternoon and take selfies. Whoever garnered the most social media activity at the end of the day won.
We all had a specific route plotted out in advance. I had worked with most of the boutiques on mine before so knew the owners personally. I also decided to wear a look from a place on my trail so popped into Bow and Pearl the day before to pick out the highwaisted skirt and top combo I wore.
"The morning itself began at 7 am in Castle Market filming Ireland AM with Brenda and Sonia and all the other crusaders."
After that then Ciara O'Doherty and I grabbed a quick coffee and then she headed off to Galway and I got ready for 2 pm when things kicked off. We started out in Ballbridge area checking out Marian Gale and Havana.
Then we made our way to Ranelagh ticking Emme, No 38, Bow and Pearl, Anastasia, Seagreen, Anastasia and Deja Vu off the list. Each boutique had all made such an effort with lots of treats, balloons, and bubbles.
Next up we made our way into Rathgar to Dress of Dreams and Platform. With about an hour to spare we made our way into town to Om Diva, Tights Department, Loulerie, Designer Exchange, Costume and The Design House.
By the end of the day Roisin (from Frockadvisor) and I were so knackered and Richard our driver from Hailo had probably seen more than enough boutiques but the event trended on twitter all day and reached over a million so it was definitely a huge success and reached tons of people sharing the Frockadvisor message to support independent retail in Ireland.
Lots of love,
