A Magical Trip to Paris
We are just back from what sounds like a cliche, but genuinely was, a magical weekend in Paris.
I've done a whole Vlog on where we went, what we ate and drank and what we loved but I also have a few more snaps to share. If you want to watch the vlog it's just below:
I've been to Paris, most recently with Yonka back in June which you can read all about -> here but never with Andrew. Last year we spent New Year's in Istanbul and this year we booked cheap flights for the same dates (29th December - 2nd January) for Paris back in August. My parents have been many times and recommended The Hotel L'Abbaye which is a boutique very-french hotel. The staff are so lovely and it's cozy but be warned, the rooms are small but the location is incredible and it's more reasonable than hotels in the same area.
We tried to go to The Louvre on the first day but the queues were so long and it was freezing so we opted for the smaller Gallerie L'Orangerie which houses Monet works and there was an amazing 1930's American art exhibition at the moment also.
We got engaged on the 30th of December last year and I'm all about marking the occasion and so we went to the Hemingway Bar in The Ritz. Initially they told us to come back in an hour and I had that slight feeling that if we were dressed up a bit more- would it have made a difference- but when we went back an hour later they seated us at a gorgeous table so I was over-thinking things!
Afterwards I really wanted to see the Hotel Costes which is where Kim Kardashian had her hen. It's all very glamorous and there's lots of red velvet floor to ceiling. We had green tea in the courtyard and people watched!
Walking back it was perfect as the streets were so bare so we took our time and got some pictures. It was absolutely freezing thought so in the picture in front of the Arc de triumph I am clutching a take away green tea for warmth!
After our spa treatments I had got some chocolates in a very cute little shop and honestly they were amazing. I really wanted to bring some home so we popped back there. If you are in Paris definitely check out Michel Cluizel. It's well worth a detour!
We had our last meal in La Couple which is a big landmark restaurant. The menu was quite limited and there was no veggie options but they made me up something special which I really appreciated. They also had the best chips and the nicest dessert. It was like a mango lemon curd with a coconut merangue and so, so good.
When we booked it four days seemed like ages but like any trip it flew. It was amazing being there though. Paris is so rich in culture and art and give you a feeling of ambition and renewed energy I think. I'm so excited to see what this year holds. I definitely want to change my outlook to one that's more positive and ambitious this year. Our wedding is also only five months away now so it's starting to feel real!
Wishing you all such a happy new year!
Till next week,
Lots of love,
