There are some experiences in the beauty world that sound like they will be wonderfully divine but don’t live up to expectations. Sodashi does not fall into that equation. Sodashi is the product of my dreams and having met the founder Megan Larsen it has exceeded the previous accolades I attached to it. She is incredibly modest but upon questioning her a little I realized that every element of this product is both considered on every level and also cultivated at the highest possible standard. Vedic music is played in the niche manufacturing environment where all the process are controlled by the company.

As a fabulous perk and also showing what kind of a forward thinking attitude Megan has, on the product website it says that her staff are assured time to meditate during the day. She is both forward thinking and dynamic and deeply thoughtful.

Exclusive to the Four Seasons Spa here in Ireland the therapies, although not cheap and cheerful, are really, really special. I enjoyed the Sodashi Contouring Marine Body Wrap. Lasting just under 90 minutes this involved being scrubbed and massaged and soothed all the while breathing in the wonderful scents of the products. One of the perks of the actual Spa experience and what makes it somewhat almost better value is that you have access to the facilities which are second to none here. I’ve attached a photo just so you can see how beautiful the pool is!

Out of the range one of my favourite products is the Rose Spray. The smell of it and feel of it is just as if you were in the most beautiful Rose garden in the world.  I mentioned this on an interview that you can read here on RTE.ie

Below is the cover of my portfolio of work for my finals on graduating college. It was a vintage Valentines Day card from 1908. I liked the idea that people 100 years ago were feeling special and trying to express it to the person that made them feel so, and that love has existed for longer than any of us.

I don’t really think my writing has changed all that much ever since this in 2008, or that I have learned all that much seeing as Love is all still a mystery to me..

In keeping with the idea of writing about products I love I am surprised it has taken me so long to write about Dr Hauschka Rose Day Cream. This is the stuff of wonder. Not that I would ever admit to being hungover or tired, but on the rare occasion that I have had a seriously late night and wake up with remnants of make up on feeling a little rough I know my skin needs a real treat. I lock myself away in the bathroom cleansing and cleansing until my skin is as clean as clean can be. Then this stuff comes into play. Upon opening this tube you are immediately hit by the actual rose scent that is a healing and sensory pleasure itself. In application this cream is thick and almost creates a film on your skin, leaving a soothing balm like layer on it. It feels so wonderful on and heals your skin so well.  It’s priced at €24 and available in most good health stores.

It takes ages to find wonder products, things which become the backbone of your beauty regime. One of my favourite products, He Shi tan, continues to get better and better as the range expands. I met it’s lovely creator the other day in the Westbury and left smiling with a bag of it’s newest product Dark Foaming mousse which retails at €30. It is an amazing product and I highly recommend it.

In the world of daily essentials alongside a good moisturizer, an insanely effective concealer, a great mascara is almost as necessary as brushing your teeth to a morning routine.

I have tried many, and occasionally highlighted the virtues of the cheaper and more cheerful variety, however upon exiting a lovely soiree for Lancome to celebrate both Christmas and the appointment of Roisin Tierney Crowe as Irish PR contact for L’Oreal brands in the Cliff Town House last night, I was given a lovely goodie bag. Inside was the infamous Lancome Hypnose Mascara that I have read so, so much about. This morning I found out that it is amazing. The hype, the awards and accolades all heaped upon this product are all merited.

One application gives a near false eyelash effect, it didn’t smudge and lastly and most importantly at €25-50 it’s not that expensive, considering it’s an everyday item…

Since discovering Rebecca Singleton earlier this year in research for Social and Personal I have become fascinated by energetic healing. I can’t exactly describe it because in truth words are not enough, but I am also sure that everyone would experience treatment differently. For me it has been amazing and helped me move forward in life and has also helped with some very bad shoulder pains. I suppose a good way of describing it would be to say if you have an emotional problem in your life or a physical ailment that there is no black and white answer to, Energy healing or Reiki will definitely help you work through it, a lot.

I was recommended a meeting with Ger Hoyne. Unfortunately for Dublin people like me he is based in Ennis but for groups of 4 or more he come to Dublin and treats people in their own homes. He is highly intuitive and from the moment you meet him you will realize this.  I had an energy healing session but he also does Thai Massage which he is actually teaching, as well as reflexology and deep tissue massage. Immediately afterward I felt a near instant lift in my demeanor, and a melting away throughout my shoulders. He removed a lot of fear that I had about certain issues also.

A one hour session is €60 and should you be feeling a little cautious there is the added incentive of the first session being half price..

I am incredibly obsessed with Miranda Kerr. My obsession stretches to such an extent that it was recently pointed out to me that one of the characters in the book that I am writing should be called Miranda. It is not exactly a common Irish name, and the book is very much set in Dublin, however artistic license can always stretch the truth a tiny bit.

On her amazing blog that I go on every single week without fail she recently posted some clips of her discussing her achievements this year so far.

One of the things I have been meaning to blog about for ages is Kiehls Midnight Recovery. A while ago I was sent some lovely Kiehls goodies and I must say all live up to the hype, this product in particular. It’s difficult to explain what exactly is so wonderful about it but you put it on at night and when you wake up you look as if you have had the most wonderful deep, crazy good dream type sleep and whether you’re stressed or wrecked your skin certainly doesn’t look it.

Cian from the Grooming rooms realized I am quite into beauty treatments within about 2 minutes of meeting me and asked me to come to their newly opened Eve at the Grooming Rooms female venture. Upon entering you get an immediate sense of New York about the place. The interiors are hip, natural and very cool. Staff are incredibly friendly and the whole place has a lovely atmosphere. I had a Dermalogica Facial (€80) and a pedicure (€60) and both were pretty superb.

I wanted to have a section on this blog where I name a sort of hero beauty product and why I love it for a while. I wanted the first thing I featured to have a sort of mystique to it rather then me extolling the virtues of Beauty Flash Balm or Touch Eclat which are also wonderful but you all know that. A while ago I got a lovely delivery of Trilogy products which I immediately loved but one product seriously stood out and is well worth a mention or shall I put it more poetically and say a place in the ‘Holly White Seriously Rates Highly Hall of Fame’.

Trilogy Aromatic Body Treatment Oil is a divine smelling and multi-faceted product. A few drops in a warm bath turn it into a soothing cocoon, put some in an oil burner to make your house smell like heaven and slather it on freshly scrubbed skin and your skin adores you. Men also seem to like the smell of it and I found that long after I had applied it I was met with ‘you smell lovely’ comments a-plenty.

Priced €19-95 and hanging out in hip health stores I would well recommend you invest.
