When it comes to weekends I like to have a vague plan, but nothing too specific. I spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday drinking just juice on the Green Beards 3 day juice detox and by Sunday I had really needed to get out of the house and do something. Saturday was the hardest part of the juice detox for me. I eventually caved in at 9 pm that evening with some roasted vegetables and almond butter.
To be honest most of Saturday I was miserable and really missed the social aspect of food so I was looking forward to a nice Sunday at the People's Park Market.
We had agreed to met people out in Dun Laoghaire but when we woke up the day was what can only be described as a washout. The heavens opened up and poured down solidly from 8 in the morning until lunch time. It was also freezing. I huddled my green tea for warmth once we got there.
The thing with Irish weather is that it's always going to be unpredictable. Luckily I picked up a Barbour jacket in Kildare Village about a month ago. I have wanted one for a while but was waiting to get sale bargain as they are quite steep full-price. I got mine at 50% off.
I wore thick black 60 denier tights for the first time in months and a playsuit from Closet London that I love. I think when it comes to transitional clothing tights bridge the gap between so many summer dresses and cold days here in Ireland. Hopefully there will be one or two more sunny days when I can wear this with bare legs. The back of it is low which makes it quite glam.
Having never been to the People's Park Market I think we didn't see it in it's best light. We wandered around in the cold a bit but the atmosphere was a bit flat. Another sunny day I would expect to return and see people filling all the park benches eating lovely food.
When the cold became a bit much we drove to Salt in Monkstown. There is something about every Avoca where the atmosphere feels warm and comforting as soon as you walk in the door.
For lunch I had falafel and salad with hummus which was so gorgeous and a glass of red wine.
There is a whole health food store section in the store and spent a bit of time browsing through the shelves. It was also an excuse to prolong returning outside to the cold.
When we left fresh showers had fallen and it was even wetter. I hope Summer isn't over. Like many I'm not ready for that to be it just yet.
