When it came to choosing what to wear for my hen I wanted something really special. I also knew I wanted something really bright.
I first saw this dress at the Arnotts Spring Fashion Show. What struck me initially was the colour and the elegance of it. It stayed in my mind but at the time I didn't have an event coming up that it would be suitable for.
It's only recently hit me that I am getting married in a few months. The nature of freelance life means I'm more focused on what's happening this week to keep the wolves from the door, rather than something ages away!
Two weeks ago my gorgeous bridesmaids sent me a little checklist for my hen and I realised it was happening very soon and I remembered this dress.
I get a lot of emails asking what to wear to a wedding and a dress like this is a perfect option. The colour of it is so striking and the contrast of the neon on the straps is refreshing and slightly unexpected. It's also always lovely to support Irish designers. Niamh O'Neill's pieces are so elegant and they all have that timeless classic feel.
When it came to styling the dress I am getting very sentimental at the moment. My mum makes bags from vintage handles and antique lace and trims. She sells them at wedding and craft fairs and does commissions in exactly the colours people want even using lace from their dress if they like. They're so beautiful and include something old, something blue, and something borrowed and hold just the essentials. She is making me a custom one for my wedding but I also have this one and it added a little sparkle to the whole look. It's like wearing Jewelery!
I am currently trying out loads of different boho up-styles and thought the milkmaid braids would be nice with this look. I also popped into Brown Thomas for a make up lesson with Nicole which those of you who follow me on Snapchat (Username - HollyKateWhite) seemed to love. She got what I wanted straight away and what was very cool is that she works across all the brands so I got to try a whole mix of products.
Now that I've got my look sorted I'm so excited to see what the girls have planned !
Lots of love,
