Towards the end of 2016 I was working for UTV Ireland doing weekly fashion segments on The Pulse and I had an instinct that it wasn't going to last forever.
In a lot of ways with the wedding coming up and also being in my thirties I wanted some form of stability and tried to ignore the feeling. But it grew stronger and stronger and eventually it became a fact. UTV Ireland was sold at the end of 2016 and rebranded. The Pulse came to an end.
It was just before Christmas which allowed a little bit of time to think things through but of course once it was headline news a lot of people were asking me 'What's next?'
The honest answer was I didn't entirely know. Halfway through 2016 I started collaborating with photographers and really pouring my energy into Holly.ie It had taken me a long time to figure out what kind of content I wanted to do. I'm quite niché. I like fashion, but in a timeless way. I like beauty but in a completely cruelty-free way. I like food, but only vegan food! I felt slightly scattered initially. Gradually though, post by post the blog began to take shape and form.
When January came round the phone started ringing, and the site got busier than I anticipated. The dream decision was almost made for me. As long as I am busy, I'm happy and this has been one of the best months yet! I've been posting consistently twice a week and my viewership has doubled.
I think as my followers got to know me they began to understand that I am passionate about all three topics. In the same day I might get a private message asking me what's the best cruelty-free foundation, my tips on how to make Kombucha and what to wear to a wedding. Slowly but surely I have learnt that I can marry all three together and I'm building the kind of lifestyle platform I really wanted to.
I suppose what I am trying to convey is there is never a 'right' time to take a leap. When I was younger I always imagined by the time I was married I would have everything 'sorted' and here I am embarking on something brand new three months before my wedding. Honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. I've just booked flights back to London for Fashion Week and I am so excited to be in the thick of the buzz and glamour of it all!
Who knows where this next pathway will take me but I'm enjoying this feeling of doing what I adore and I am really loving the connection I am building with you guys through having that extra bit of time to dedicate to my social media and content creation.
A blog is nothing in a commercial sense without readers and followers so from the bottom of my heart I want to say a huge thank you for all the support!
I am delighted my curious mix of food, fashion and natural beauty has found it's place!
Lots of love,
